What a clever idea (and stellar summary). Now I see why Biden's so adamant about sticking around for another 4 years, the man's just trying to close the gap.
Are these pay disparities just the raw income figures? Or is it segmented by job type? If it's the former (and it seems to be, the graph captions don't mention any specific field or job type), then the cause for the persistent pay gap after the 1990s is clear: women and men choose different fields, with the latter prioritizing pay at the cost of safety, work life balance, and travel. The pay gap within the same job has almost entirely disappeared: https://www.economist.com/graphic-detail/2017/08/01/are-women-paid-less-than-men-for-the-same-work
Nicely done, Alice.
Thank you, Joy!
